Hi, readers of the intangibles! I’m Allison Kirkland, and this publication was created to celebrate and explore the world of creative nonfiction and the writing life. I’m so glad you’re here.

Hi writers and readers,
I wanted to draw your attention again to the donation-based June Writing Circle that I’m offering next month.
For four weeks we'll be finding inspiration through readings and exercises, generating new writing by working with reflective writing prompts, sharing our work if we'd like, and connecting with a writing community and with ourselves.
This opportunity is open to adult writers of any experience level, even if you don’t call yourself a writer (yet). Drop in to one or all of the sessions. I invite you to give a donation of $15 per session, but I really want to encourage your attendance even if you can give just a few dollars or nothing at all.
Here’s the schedule — four (4) one-hour sessions, all on Zoom:
Wednesday June 4th, 5:30- 6:30pm ET
Wednesday June 11th, 5:30- 6:30pm ET
Wednesday June 18th, 5:30- 6:30pm ET
Wednesday June 25th, 5:30- 6:30pm ET
Sign up here by May 20th. I’ll email you the day before each session with a reminder that includes my Venmo handle and the Zoom link.
If this is not the right opportunity for you, I invite you to send it along to another writer who may be interested.
I hope to see you there!

Toward a Disabled Writing Practice
Hi, readers of the intangibles! I’m Allison Kirkland, and this publication was created to celebrate and explore the writing life and the world of creative nonfiction. I’m so glad you’re here.
Each month I offer a writing prompt and a reading recommendation or writing exercise for my paid subscribers, geared toward writers of creative nonfiction and memoir.
My hope is that these prompts and recommendations can be a resource for writers who might not currently be attending a writing class, but who still want to engage with the creative nonfiction world and with their writing practice on their own schedule.
The first step to finding authority and authenticity in your writing, after all, is to write and read. Take some time to notice what resonates with you, notice what you like and what nags at you in other essays, poems and books. Write a few lines or paragraphs yourself, within the safe confines of a prompt. You never know what starting these new habits might bring forth.
